This plot idea is rather odd. It calls for a rather specific character type to take a roll in Nerreth's past. Part of the character is that he's cursed to feel constant cold. Whether this person is demonic or angelic matters not. If they are strongly aligned with the element of ice and the kind to hold VERY long grudges or make impulsive decisions that could stay in effect forever, they'd work.
This way there's more connection in the world. I think it'd be cool if my character's past actually had a bigger effect. If your character ever did come into contact with Nerreth, he'd probably be so frightened of you that he'd do whatever was asked of him, so there's a bonus there.
